HMF Scholarship fund

Jessica Grace awarded first HMF scholarships at YTTCThe two girls who were awarded the first scholarships in 2012 with HMF are Jessica Night and Night Grace. They are now in their third term in the college, so a good time to find out how they are enjoying their time at YTTC.

Night Grace:

Grace in classWhy do you enjoy studying at YTTC?

The things I love about YTTC are:-

•    The well-stocked library.
•    The nice and modern computer lab which all students have access to.
•    The environment is very conducive for learning with trees and free from town noise.
•    The modern class room block with electric fans. The first of its kind in my life.
•    The daily devotions
•    The abundant light for reading in the night.
•    The ladies fashion days.

What is your favourite subject and why?

My favourite subject is PES ( professional education studies)

It is because I perform in it better than any other subjects offered at the college

It is the one that gives me the skills of the profession.

What activities are you involved with in the college?

•    I enjoy playing netball
•    I  have volunteered to clean the library for the time I will be here.
•    Bible Study
•    Scripture union.
•    Scouting
•    Traditional entertainment/dance group.

Anything else you would like to add?

I'm so happy to be taken for this scholarship because I was not going to afford my tution as I'm the breadwinner in my family. I have a father who has never given me anything and my mum is a single mum.
This is a golden chance for me and a stepping stone for further studies.
The scholarship has given chance to learn to be humble and honest like
this lady in whose memory the scholarship was created

Night Jessica

Jessica in libraryWhy do you enjoy studying at YTTC?

Firstly, I believe that the college trains teachers holistically. By that I mean  Physically we have sports and agriculture, spiritually we have the daily morning devotions, bible studies, praise and worship, fellowships and scripture union
Socially we have leadership opportunities where students are developed to become  leaders, the traditional dance group and the choir. The mentoring groups - are commonly known as families – this is where students are assigned to tutors and the fellow students become one's brothers and sisters.
Morally the mentoring group are where the mentors guide students, psychologically and emotionally.
This college is simply unique!

Secondly: The services offered by the well-trained and selfless tutors is yet another thing I enjoy at the college. Also the good management that has led to all the developments we can enjoy here.

And a few other things which I enjoy are:

The well-equipped computer lab that links us to the world, the well-equipped and modern science Lab and the library make study very comfortable here. The brass band which is the only one of its kind in the region. Last but not least, the fashion days set once a term for ladies in the college

What is your favourite subject and why?

Mathematics is my favourite subject! Somehow it motivates me to read other subject. I seem to understand Maths better than other subjects.

What activities are you involved with in the college?

Jessica in classI am involved in a few activities:
I am the Vice chairperson of the Scripture Union
And the Minister for Education in the guild council, which I'm sure is preparing me as a future minister in this new country!!
I also enjoy the debating club and group discussions; I love playing Netball and Volley ball and I am a member of the brass band.
